Remote control problems can prevent you from streaming. Here is how to fix them.

Fix Streaming Remote Control Issues

Firestick remote not working

Replace batteries. Hold Home button for 10 seconds to re-pair. Move closer to the Firestick. Remove obstacles between remote and device.

Firestick remote pairing

Settings > Controllers and Bluetooth Devices > Amazon Fire TV Remotes > Add New Remote. Hold Home button for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode.

Smart TV remote not working

Replace batteries. Point directly at TV IR sensor. Try pairing via Bluetooth if your TV supports it. Reset remote by removing batteries and holding power for 10 seconds.

Phone as remote

Use the Fire TV app on your phone as a remote. Connect to the same WiFi as your Firestick. The app provides keyboard input and voice search.

Universal remote

Program a universal remote with the correct code for your streaming device. Check the universal remote manual for Firestick, Roku, or Smart TV codes.
