A VPN encrypts your internet traffic, preventing your ISP from identifying and throttling streaming content. If buffering disappears with a VPN, your ISP was throttling.
VPN setup for streaming
Install a VPN app on your streaming device. Connect to a server close to your location for best speed. Open your streaming app and test. If buffering is gone, keep the VPN on.

VPN on Smart TV
Android TV supports VPN apps from Play Store. Samsung and LG do not — use a router VPN or an external device with VPN support.

VPN speed tips
Choose a server geographically close to you. Use WireGuard protocol if available (faster than OpenVPN). Avoid free VPNs — they are too slow for streaming.
